Phnom Penh: Unions will meet this afternoon to find common ground that will be included in the 2026 minimum wage negotiations for workers in the garment, footwear, handbags, and travel products sectors in Cambodia.
Despite global challenges, both economic and political, including a border dispute with Thailand, Cambodia has maintained its annual minimum wage negotiations for workers.
The ongoing negotiations on the 2026 minimum wage demonstrate the high level of concern shown by the Royal Government of Cambodia, led by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, for workers in this important sector.
For the 2025 minimum wage, the minimum wage negotiators succeeded in raising the minimum wage by $4, on top of the base wage of $204, to a total of $208 for 2025. The 2026 minimum wage negotiations are expected to proceed smoothly, as in previous years.
