Phnom Penh: Under the coordination of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, the protest at Bowker Garment Factory reached a settlement on the evening of October 1, 2025, with 68 workers agreeing to receive 4-point compensation to terminate their employment contracts, three pregnant workers returning to work in the same knitting section, and two workers on maternity leave, while two others are absent.
According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, Sun Mesa, “This is a result of the two parties agreeing to stand on a win-win position under the prompt intervention of the Ministry of Labor and the utmost attention from the ministry as a mediator based on the common interests of all.”
The Ministry spokesperson said that through the ministry’s successive quick solutions like in this case, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, which is the executive body for the 7th mandate of the Royal Government of Cambodia, has never been complacent or indifferent to the problems of workers and employers.
Note that on September 28, 75 workers stood in front of the company to protest their dissatisfaction after the transfer of 75 workers from the knitting department to the sewing department because the knitting department did not have as much work as before.
