Phnom Penh: Cambodia Prime Minister, Hun Manet, has stressed that in the future, there will be an expansion of the number of childcare facilities in factories to facilitate female workers who are mothers of infants while they work in factories. The establishment of childcare facilities in factories is in accordance with the concept of the Royal Government, 7th term of the National Assembly, which requires the establishment of childcare facilities in factories.

Prime Minister said that today we can proudly say that this work has progressed and we are also preparing to do this further. In the future, factories and enterprises with 100 employees or more will have childcare facilities in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Law of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Prime Minister made this statement at the inauguration ceremony of the Marvel Garment Co., Ltd. in the Royal Group Special Economic Zone, Phnom Penh on March 10, 2025.

Prime Minister Hun Manet said that due to the COVID-19 situation, together with the current situation, we are not yet able to prepare fully and hope that in the future we will be able to prepare gradually, while currently there are a few other places that are also preparing. The Prime Minister thanked Marvel Gaming Co., Ltd. located in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone for voluntarily participating in implementing the Royal Government’s desire to establish nurseries in factories and enterprises. Taking this opportunity, the Prime Minister also advised not to establish nurseries near the factory’s production line to avoid affecting the health of babies.

Prime Minister added that the establishment of nurseries in factories and enterprises is under the main objective of providing benefits to female workers who are mothers and their young children, and that the establishment of nurseries in factories and enterprises is an important investment because workers are the family of the company, factory, enterprise, and their children are the same.

On that occasion, the Prime Minister added that caring for one family is a good thing, and he wants to continue to organize such arrangements as much as possible in our private sector, especially in large factories, by encouraging the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training to continue this work. The Ministry of Health also asks for help in health care by providing support in providing health services to children and grandchildren.
