Phnom Penh: On June 20, 2025, workers at the Kaoway Sports CO, LTD., a manufacturer of leather shoes and sports equipment, located in the Meth Hatan Special Economic Zone: Bati Village, Sangkat Bavet, Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, gathered to strike to demand their benefits that the company has not fulfilled.
According to the Collective Union of Movement of Workers' offcer in Svay Rieng Province, the workers of the above factory have lost wages and been paid very late (salary was paid on the 10th, but was deposited in the bank at 9 pm).
In addition, they are also demanding bonus money and skill money which the factory stated that they charge the workers, but when they pay the salaries, they do not receive this money, especially the overtime on Sundays and holidays, which is 1 x 3, when it came to paying the salary, it was only 1 x 2.
Despite the loss of many benefits as described above, the workers at the Kaoway factory stated that there are still other benefits that the workers are not receiving. Through this strike, the workers are demanding that the company address seven issues.
