Phnom Penh: Pav Sina, President of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers, has called on all microfinance institutions in Cambodia to consider suspending payments for displaced people as the country faces a war of aggression.
His appeal comes amid ongoing conflict along the Cambodia-Thailand border, where Cambodians have been forced to flee to safer areas due to incessant shelling by the Thai military, resulting in the loss of their entire income.
Currently, residents and workers in Koh Kong, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Pursat, and Battambang provinces have been displaced to escape the shelling and bombing by the Thai military.
Pav Sina expressed his strong belief that all microfinance institutions in Cambodia will understand and accept the loss of income during this difficult time and consider suspending payments temporarily until the situation returns to normal.
